The Claridge - Minneapolis
Greetings and welcome to the official blog for the painting project at The Claridge in Minneapolis. We are thrilled to be back onsite and working with and for you again!
Route Map @ The Claridge
Wednesday, June 7th: Today would have made Prince 59 years old; however, he wasn't one to celebrate birthdays. In a 1999 Dutch TV interview, Prince thoughtfully explained that choosing not to celebrate one's birthday stops him from counting days and then stops him from counting time and allows him to remain young. It's an interesting perspective- choose to celebrate his birthday if you wish, maybe blast Purple Rain or don a Raspberry Beret.
The crew is wrapping up their painting today at The Claridge. We wanted to say thank you to all of the residents for having us at your building. It has been our pleasure painting your window frames and sprucing up the building. We hope you enjoy it and have a great rest of the summer!
Tuesday, June 6th: Hello and happy Tuesday! For all the hockey fans out there, we've got ourselves quite the match up. The Nashville Predators won 2 in a row at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins to tie the score to 2-2. Up next, the teams will face-off on Thursday in Pittsburgh. They'll alternate home ice for games 5, 6, and potentially 7. In NBA Finals news, the Golden State Warriors are up 2-0 in the series and the teams will face off on Wednesday in Cleveland. 4 wins will take the championship!
The crew is at Claridge keeping up with window frame painting.
As the beat goes on...the painting continues on the windows.
2 painters on deck!
Monday, June 5th: Good morning residents of The Claridge! We hope you all enjoyed your weekend and the gorgeous weather we had!
We have 3 crew members onsite continuing on scraping, prepping, and painting the window frames.
Looks like a great week ahead!
Friday, June 2nd: TGIF! It's Friday, it's beautiful out, and it's National Donut Day! Though we’re the first to argue that all the food holidays (National Cherry Popsicle Day is Aug. 26, in case you were wondering) are getting out of control, National Donut Day actually has legit history behind it. And it’s hard to resist a real reason to eat a doughnut. The day was created in 1938 to honor the Salvation Army “Donut Girls” who served doughnuts to soldiers on the front lines of World War I. We can toast a donut to that! Here's a list of several in the Twin Cities if you need a little help finding those treats!
The crew is back onsite today and they're working on the windows on the south and east sides.
The Claridge Crew is back at it!
Thursday, June 1st: Happy June 1st!! We are happy to see the sun shining and have an 80 degree day to welcome the new month!
The crew is onsite at a different location applying paint samples. They'll be back onsite tomorrow to resume their window trim painting. Enjoy this gorgeous day!
Wednesday, May 31st: We can't believe May is coming to a close and June is right around the corner. We're hopeful the new month will bring more sunshine and less rain and if today is any indication of that- we'll take it! This warmer weather has us eager to use our outdoor grills and bbq! Thrillist's list of '100 Best Burgers In America' is out and Minnesota takes 4 of the spots. At #100, is Matt's Bar's Juicy Lucy, #86 is the Paddy Shack Burger from Half-Time Rec, #47 is the Parlour Burger, and #40 is Sainte Dinette's cheeseburger. Looks like we having some tasting to do!
The crew at Claridge is painting window frames on the west side of the building today.
3 Ladders up and we're off!
The windows on the west side of the building get a fresh coat of paint.
Tuesday, May 30th: We hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed the Holiday. And then just a few short days and we'll have another weekend. Art Fair season is upon us as the Edina Art Fair kicks off on Friday. There are 280 local, national, and international artists as well as lots of live music, food, drinks, and even activities for the kiddos. Check out their website for all the need-to-know information.
The guys are scraping, prepping, and painting the window frames at The Claridge.
Back at it over @ The Claridge.
Friday, May 26th: TGIF! As we're all anxiously awaiting a 3-day weekend, we want to take a moment and say thank you to our service men and women who tirelessly serve and protect our country. We will also remember and honor those brave souls who have died in service.
We are continuing with scraping and priming window frames and then painting; then the cycle repeats. We'll make our way around the building in entirety.
We hope you all have a great weekend!
Thursday, May 25th: Today is turning out to be the best day of the week yet! Not to get ahead of ourselves, but guess how many weeks until the State Fair? 13 weeks! There will be an exciting addition to this year's festival- a 156 foot Ferris Wheel. The Great Big Wheel is one of the tallest traveling Ferris Wheels in North America and will take 12 trucks to get to MN. There are 36 buckets that can each hold 6 people, so the more the merrier! If you seek the thrill of high heights, this one's for you!
The crew at the Claridge is painting a few sections of windows today and also some scraping and priming on the next sections.
4 ladders & 4 crew members getting the job done!
Wednesday, May 24th: Hello and Happy Hump Day!
An oldie, but a goodie.
The crew is making their way around and scraping and priming the window frames. They have two sections of walls complete for scraping and priming and will paint them tomorrow.
Tuesday, May 23rd: Quick update for everyone: the crew is continuing to remove the storm windows around your building. Once the windows are removed, they'll begin scraping and priming the window frames for painting. We're hoping the rain can hold off so the crew can get the remaining storm windows off.
Monday, May 22nd: Happy Monday and cheers to the sun shining! We couldn't be happier that Mother Nature had a change of heart on our usual rainy forecast.
The crew is back at it; they are continuing to remove storm windows around the building. We'll keep you updated as the week's forecasted weather is showing more rain.
Anyone catch the Billboard Music Awards last night? One of the highlights was Celine Dion's performance of 'My Heart Will Go On' for Titanic's 20th Anniversary! Celine is overly talented and sang with such grace and poise. If you missed it, you can check it out here.
We couldn't be happier about the sunshine reflecting off of the ivy!
Thursday, May 18th: Good morning residents of The Claridge. We hope you are all staying safe and dry with all of this rain we're having. While we have a pause from the rain, the crew is contiuing to remove the storm windows around the building.
Trying to beat the rain and get a few more storm windows down.
If you're wanting to look ahead to the weekend and get over this slump of a week, Northeast Minneapolis Art Association's Art-A-Whirl will take over Northeast Minneapolis for the weekend. In it's 22nd year of open studios, demonstrations, sales, kids' activities, and food and drink specials at surrounding breweries and restaurants, Art-A-Whirl takes art appreciation to a whole new level. Though the weather won't be much different than the rainy week we've had, grab your umbrella or even take the buses that are looping between buildings hosting open studios and explore all NE has to offer!
Wednesday, May 17th: Good morning residents of The Claridge! Our crew is onsite and removing storm windows as our first step in your window frame painting project. Reminder- as a precaution, please close all windows as we are removing storm windows. Thanks!
We'll be starting in the SW corner of the property and making our way around the building as illustrated above in yellow. We'll follow this route for storm window removal, scraping, and then finally painting.
First step: Remove storm windows
Tuesday, May 16th: Our hopes of the rain holding off for a bit this morning have come and gone. With the rain and moisture, we'll be back once the exteriors have dried out a bit and are ready for painting. Until then, here's the Will & Grace trailer that was released yesterday from NBC to perk up this rainy morning. The 12-episode revival kicks off this fall on NBC!
The gang's back at it!
Monday, May 15th: Good afternoon residents of The Claridge. We have a quick update for your project. Depending on the weather, we'll begin prepping the window frames. If Mother Nature can hold our on us, we'll begin late- mid morning with prep only since the weather will be variable for the next few days.
Stay tuned and we'll keep you updated right here on the blog.
Friday, May 12th: Happy Friday ya'll! Cheers to a beautiful weekend ahead!
We are looking forward to being back at a familiar place. It's always nice to get invited back! For this spring's project we'll be painting your window frames. Our crew will be onsite starting on Tuesday, May 16th and we'll begin by removing your existing storm windows and then prepping and painting your existing window frames. If you want to be technical, we'll be painting the top lentils, bottom rails of the lower sash, anad exerior window frames including brick molding, wood sills, and the inside frame between the sill and upper sash.
We anticipate that the project will take about 2 weeks to complete, with Mother Nature playing a factor in our schedule. Stay tuned right here on the blog for progress updates, pictures, and any changes if they come up!
We can't get enough of Jimmy Fallon's #MOMQUOTES! And just in time for Mother's Day!

Monday, February 8th: Now that Superbowl Sunday is behind us, we can redirect our focus back onto the painting project at The Claridge. Special thanks to Bruce, Robin, and Erik for their feedback and the green light to proceed with additional painting. As you've probably noticed many of the dramatic improvements to the wall areas, the guys will shift their attention to the millwork where we will be freshening up the white doors and frames throughout the building. Please be cognizant of this as work will be performed on the residence door frames as well. If you see any blue tape, please leave it as is. Thanks everybody!
The residence door frames are among the additional items approved for completion at The Claridge starting on Tuesday, February 9th.
Friday, February 5th: After another productive week, the fellas are approaching the end of the labor allotment. They'll be there about another 1/2 day on Monday but for the most part, all of the areas marked with blue tape have been completed. Additionally, the laundry room in the basement was repainted in a more neutral gray color.
Monday, February 1st: No, you are not reading this incorrectly. It's actually February and with downright balmy temperatures on Sunday, it feels more like March!!! But, let's not get too far ahead of ourselves...after all this IS Minnesota, and we've got work to do at The Claridge! The crew is back onsite after making some nice progress last week and Victor and Francisco will be tackling the blue taped areas in the 2519 building for most of the week. Thanks for your ongoing patience and cooperation.
Victor and Francisco get things started at Claridge Monday morning.
Wednesday, January 27th: As we settle into day three of painting at The Claridge, the fellas are making very steady progress and by midday today, we are projecting that most of the 2517 Building (that is, the areas that were designated for paitning). We will then proceed to the 2519 Building and begin work there. As always, any questions, feel free to reach out via the blog (comment below) and/or via phone. We are here as needed. Thanks everybody!
To the untrained eye, what seem like minor wall repairs actually require extensive work to render a smooth, uniform and freshly painted surface!
Monday, January 25th: And we're off @ The Claridge in Minneapolis.
Wall repairs and painting are in full swing Monday morning @ The Claridge!
Thursday, January 21st: Greetings residents of The Claridge in Minneapolis! Perhaps you've found your way to our humble little blog by way of notices being posted onsite alerting you of our pending arrival on Monday, January 25th. We are very excited to get things underway and we want to take a moment to thank Robin, Bruce, the board, and all the residents for that, in advance for having us and their cooperation throughout the project.
A couple quick housekeeping notes for the project...
1. You've probably already noticed small pieces of blue tape scattered throughout your building. Those are the areas designated for painting and they serve as guides for our crews. We kindly ask that you leave those in place. After they are removed, you will notice a brand spankin' new paint job, and that's a good thing!
2. You can follow the project progress right here in the blog. This will be updated a few times throughout the week.
Other than that, we should be all set to get things rolling (pun intended) on Monday!
