Greetings and welcome to the project blog for the 2018 painting project at Calhoun Greenway! We are thrilled to be back onsite!

Route Map @ Calhoun Greenway

Friday, July 13th: Hello and happy Friday!

The crew has completed your project at Calhoun Greenway! It has been our pleasure sprucing up your deck skirts, posts, and railings – just in time to enjoy the rest of the summer!

Thank you so much for having us. It has been our pleasure working with and for you!

Monday, July 9th: Hello and good afternoon residents of Calhoun Greenway!

The crew is making their way around the halfway mark of the stacks on the backside of the building and we are hopeful with a stretch of clear weather to wrap up by the end of the week.

Scraping and priming on the backside of the building.

Team work to get the ladders up.

Tandem prepping and painting on the deck skirts.

Tuesday, July 3rd:

Hello! The rain has halted our project for the day, but we’ll return after the holiday on Thursday, July 5th. The crew will continue to prime and paint the skirts, divider walls, and posts around the building.

We have a bit of a skeleton crew in our office the rest of the week as we’re spending time with family and enjoying the holiday, but we will resume with daily updates on Monday. Thanks and have a happy and safe 4th of July and a great rest of the week!

Monday, July 2nd: Greetings!

Hello and Happy July! We just can’t believe how quickly the weeks are going by!

The crew is making their way around the deck stacks to paint the skirts and support posts.

The divider walls, skirts, and posts have been primed.

Friday, June 29th: TGIF!

Onsite with Isaac – 6/29

Thursday, June 28th: Hello! It’s going to be a hot one, folks! Grab your water and sunscreen today!

The crew has just about finished the work on your metal deck railings and will wrap those up today. In light of the rain we had at the beginning of the week, the crew eleted to move forward with surfaces that could be prepped and painted (railing vs. wood surfaces) as to not wait another day for the wood to dry. They’ll be started on the skirts, posts, divider walls in the next day. Pictures coming soon. Thanks!

Tuesday, June 26th: Good morning residents of Calhoun Greenway!

Project Check-In onsite with David.

Friday, June 22nd: Good afternoon and TGIF!

The crew is continuing with the railings at Calhoun Greenway and will start with the deck skirts on Monday.

Stacks on stacks on stacks.

Thursday, June 21st: Hello and happy Thursday!

The crew is continuing to paint your deck railings. They are following the route listed above and they’ll begin the deck skirts on Monday, 6/25. Thanks!

Wednesday, June 20th: Good afternoon!

The pressure washing is complete and the crew is back onsite and beginning to stain your deck areas- railings, skirts, support posts, and divider walls.

The crew is painting on one of your deck stacks.

Tuesday, June 19th: Good morning!

The crew is continuing with pressure washing the exterior surfaces in advance of painting. Once the substrates have dried out, we’ll return to begin the prep and painting of the designated deck areas.

Your Calhoun Greenway Crew: Gabriel, Hernando, Erick, Jorge, and Jorge.

Thursday, June 14th: Hello residents of Calhoun Greeway. We are just delighted to be returning to Calhoun Greenway this summer!

This project entails the painting of several exterior areas: deck railings, deck skirts, deck support posts, and divider walls.

We’ll be starting your project with pressure washing these designated areas. We’ll be onsite Monday and Tuesday, June 18/19 to complete the pressure washing. Please close your windows in advance of our washing. It’s not necessary to remove the contents of your deck, unless you’d prefer to move items as there will be some paint chips resulting from the pressure washing.

We’ll then begin the prepping and painting portion of the project  with the 119 deck stack and will make our way clockwise around the building and then ending with the 421 deck stack. Pressure washing will move in this order as well.

Your project should take about 4-5 weeks to complete, weather permitting. Stay tuned here on the blog for project progress updates, photos, scheduling updates, as well as any delays – if they may come up.

Thanks so much and we’ll see you on Monday!

Project Details from the 2016 Painting Project

Thursday, December 8th: Good afternoon Calhoun Greenway. The snow is still flying and I think it’s safe to say “he who shall not be named” has arrived. I’ll give you a hint- it’s not Voldemort…WINTER is here to stay and we’ll be getting down to the lowest of the lows in about a week. So gear up Minnesota!

In the words of Home Alone’s Kevin McCallister, “This is it, don’t get scared now.”

That’s all folks! Your project is complete. We’ll schedule a walk through in the very near future to make sure that we’ve covered all our bases and that you are completely satisfied with our work. It’s been a pleasure being onsite with you and aiding to spruce up your property. We hope you enjoy it and have a great rest of the year!!

Wednesday, December 7th: Greetings residents of Calhoun Greenway. The snow is flying and the air is chilly. Don’t forget to grab those mittens and a hat when you’re headed out for the day. Time Magazine released their 2016 list of ‘100 Most Influential People.’ The list is inclusive of artists, icons, pioneers, and leaders and the articles are written by other influencers and admirers of the honorees. Linked also is Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. Check it out!

The crews in the 3141 Building are wrapping up today. The stairwells will be completed by days end and the crew on the first floor is busier than santa’s elves working to finish up your project.

Finishing up the accent walls on the first floor of 3141.

Tuesday, December 6th: Hello and happy Tuesday! We hope you’re staying warm despite this blast of wind and cold we’re having. The crews in the 3141 Building are continuing to paint the walls of the 1st floor and also finishing up in the last 2 stairwells.

The 1st floor of the 3141 Building gets an update.

Team work for ‘win’ in the 3141 Building.

Monday, December 5th: Good afternoon residents of Calhoun Greenway. We hope you had a great weekend! If you need a good laugh to get you through the day, check out this compilation of ‘Elf on the Shelf’ ideas. Maybe you’ve joined the craze this year and your little ones can appreciate all the mischief your elf is getting into.

Meanwhile, at your buildings the crew are back at it! The crews in the 3141 Building are working on the stairwell walls and also the first floor walls and ceilings.

The stairwells are getting some extra care.

Erick carefully paints around the doorframe.

Friday, December 2nd: Happy Friday everyone! Let’s put yesterday’s Vikings game in the past and move forward. We can still get a few wins before the season is over. The crew in the 3141 Building is finishing up the 2nd floor and also prepping the 1st floor ceilings. They’ll start the ceilings on Monday and will likely finish the building by Thursday. The other crew is continuing their painting in the stairwells of the 3141 Building as well.

1st floor ceilings are prepped.

detailed Ceiling prep leads to a clean finish.

The lighting is perfect for painting.

Thursday, December 1st: The countdown is on to the holidays and maybe now that it’s officially December the rain will cease and we can get some snow. It’s also Thursday Night Football for the Vikings and Cowboys. Both teams need this game, although for differing reasons. The Vikings are fighting for the NFC North and the Cowboys hope to cushion their lead and gain some post-season home field advantage. One of our other crews got in the Viking spirit in hope of a victory!

Skol Viking from one of our other crews!

The crew in the 3140 Building is painting the ceilings of stairwells and the 3141 crew is making their way around to all the walls of the 2nd floor.

You can hardly spot our painter in his fresh whites.

There is light at the end of the tunnel!

Wednesday, November 30th: Well, here we are on the last day of November. I can’t quite believe how fast time flies and the new year will be here before you know it. If you’re looking to add some ‘cool cred’ to your gift lists, tomorrow, Nike releases the ‘HyperAdapt 1.0’ a la Marty McFly in “Back to the Future II.” Check out Today Show anchors as they give the sneakers a try.

Roughly 27 years to the date  later, Nike releases a similar pair.

While you contemplate the idea of never having to lace your own shoes again, the crew in the 3141 Buiding is continuing with the hallways on the 2nd floor. And in the 3140 Building the entryway walls get a fresh coat of paint.

The hallways are setting the ‘Back to the Future’ vibe too.

The entry way is sparkling white!

Tuesday, November 29th: Greetings and happy Tuesday! First there was Black Friday, then Cyber Monday, and now Giving Tuesday is working to make a name for itself in Minnesota as the beginning of the giving season. People are encouraged to donate money and/or their time to organizations, charities, or wherever their hearts are pulling. So as you’re making your gift lists, consider donating to a charity or cause in need.

In the 3140 Building the crew is continuing their painting on the stairwell walls and in the 3141 Building they are painting the ceilings on the 2nd floor.

The drop cloth saves the day- no drips on the carpet!

The 2nd floor gets a boost from some fresh paint.

Monday, November 28th: We’re back! We hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and long weekend spent with family and friends.

Even if you’re still a little full, it’s all worth it, right? After the long weekend, the crews are back onsite at Calhoun Greenway. The 2nd floor is being prepped for painting in the 3141 Building and they’ll start painting tomorrow. The stairwell of the 3141 Building is also getting prepped and painted. The crew in the 3040 Building has finished the ceilings and is working on painting the walls.

Prep is underway in the 3144 Building.

Up next, spraying the ceilings.

Wednesday, November 23rd: Happy Thanksgiving Eve! With the arrival of some snow it seems the holiday festivities have now begun! We want to take a moment to wish you all a great Thanksgiving holiday! Travel safe and cherish time spent with loved ones.

Maybe you’re a ‘Friends’ fan and maybe you’re not, but either way here’s compilation of some pretty hilarious, if you ask me, moments from the show.

In painting news, the crew in the 3141 Building is wrapping up the 3rd floor of the building and will start on the 2nd floor on Monday. The crew in the 3140 Building is continuing with the stairwells. The Roell Painting crew is taking tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday to be with family and friends. So we’ll see you back here on Monday!

Loving the ‘Copper Mountain’ accent color.

Tuesday, November 22nd: Good afternoon residents of Calhoun Village. Hopefully you’re staying dry and warm in this confusing mix of rain and snow we’re having. Today is famed to be one of the busiest travel days of the year. Here’s a quick read with a list of 13 Travel Hacks for a Smooth Thanksgiving Holiday. #6 might be my favorite suggestion…Stay safe if you’ve begun your travels.

We’re moving along in the 3141 Building with painting the walls on the 3rd floor and they should be done tomorrow. The crew in the 3140 Building has started prep and some painting of the stairwells.

Slowly but surely we’re finishing the 3rd floor hallways.

This little light of mine. The light fixtures are expertly taped to avoid overspray.

Monday, November 21st: It’s a fresh start Monday and the beginning of a new and short week! We hope your week is off to a better start than this poor guy from the Vikings game yesterday.

Mondays got me like…

With the Thanksgiving holiday ahead, the crews are powering through this short week. In the 3140 Building, the crew is prepping the stairwells and will then complete painting.

Zero chance of drips or spills on Obed’s watch.

The crew in the 3141 Building is continuing painting walls throughout today and tomorrow.

The halls are brightening up.

The accent walls are shining bright!

Friday, November 18th: Happy Friday everyone! So thunderstorms are a thing mid-November? Apparently so, as I’m watching the down pouring of rain and hearing claps of thunder. And with the weather that’s forecasted for later today and tonight, buckle up and stay safe. I think we can all recall the commute of the first snowfall last year. If you need a little extra oomph today, check out this 3rd grade teacher’s message to “push through.” The crew in the 3140 Building is painting the accent walls of the 4th floor. The crew in the 3141 Building is finishing up the ceiling on the 3rd floor and beginning prep and painting on the walls of the 3rd floor as well.

Amidst the ‘Shoji White’ walls is a pop of ‘Northern Greens.’

The ‘Shoji White’ is looking fresh on the walls.

Thursday, November 17th:

We hate to be the bearer of bad news…

But we don’t think this snow is a joke.

Dig out those hats, gloves, and boots from storage because it looks like out extended fall is coming to an end. Now the decorations will seem a bit more fitting with cooler temperatures and even some snow.

We’ve started prep and painting in the 3140 Building and will be on the 3rd floor today doing the ceilings.

Tape and wall coverings to protect from ceiling spray.

Precise taping leads to a crisp finish.

The crew in the 3140 Building is painting the second coat of paint on the 1st floor hallways.

The ladder might not be necessary when you’ve got the height to reach the ceilings.

Wednesday, November 16th: We’ve made it to mid-week and if you’re a Vikings fan, you’re hopeful the new guy, Kai Forbath can perfectly place a field goal right down the middle! If you haven’t heard, the Vikings released Blair Walsh yesterday…

Here’s the kicker: Blair Walsh misses door wide left on his way out.

The least we can do is have a quick laugh, wish Walsh the best of luck, and remain hopeful we can earn those field goals and extra points this Sunday against the Cardinals! While the Vikings are adjusting to the change, the crew at Calhoun Greenway is making their way around the 2nd floor and putting up the 2nd coat of paint.

Hopefully Roberto isn’t Blinded by the Light. Did you know this was Bruce Springsteen’s first single? A flop for Springsteen, but a #1 hit for Mandfred Mann.

Tuesday, November 15th: Good afternoon residents of Calhoun Greenway! The crew is working on the 2nd coat on the 2nd floor…try saying that three times fast!

Spotted: Eagle eye on the ladder applying the 2nd coat.

Monday, November 14th: Feels like deja vu with all this gorgeous weather we’re having. We hope you were able to get out and enjoy it! The crew at Calhoun Greenway is working on the 2nd floor hallway today.

Friday, November 11th: Is it weird for anyone else to see Christmas lights and holiday decorations going up outside?! This weather has me all turned around, but yes it is mid-November. So I suppose in fact it is time for decorations. We’ve just been pretty spoiled lately and our luck hasn’t quite run out yet…

At the 3140 Building the crew is continuing to paint the hallways and common walls on the 3rd and 2nd floor.

Quick snap mid roll.

Thursday, November 10th: Hello and happy Thursday! The crew is painting the 2nd coat on the 4th floor corridors and common walls.

Some may say we jumped on the bandwagon for the latest craze or that we want to relive the 80’s classic in all its glory. Regardless, here is our version of the “Mannequin Challenge.” Enjoy!

Wednesday, November 9th: Good afternoon Calhoun Greenway. Excuse us for the later post, but we were out in the field having some fun taking video with our drone and participating in the ‘Mannequin Challenge’…more on that later.

The crew is painting the 4th floor ceilings of the 3140 Building.

Roberto brightens up the hallways.

Wall painting is underway on the 4th floor.

Tuesday, November 8th: The day is finally here. It’s Election Day and don’t worry, we won’t get all political except to say get out there and vote!

The crew is continuing their way down the hallways to the first floor and painting the ceilings.

Despite the dim lighting, the ceilings are shining with fresh paint!

Monday, November 7th: Greetings residents of Calhoun Greenway. I keep pinching myself with Mother Nature is spoiling us with sunshine and warmer temps and they’ll be here all week!

The even better news is …they’re off!  We started your project today and the crew is prepping and painting the 4th and 3rd floor ceilings of the 3140 Building.

Obed is sure to cover and tape all surfaces.

We promise this is not a scene from horror movie, but just a thoroughly taped hallway.

Some of Roell Painting’s finest: Alberto, Alberto again, Oscar, Jesse, Obed, and Roberto.

Friday, November 4th: Hello Calhoun Greenway! We hope you had a great week. It was a pretty exciting week for baseball fans, especially Cubs fans! Our Office Manager hails from Chicago so we’ve been a bit biased with our allegiances.

This gorgeous weather continues and we couldn’t be happier! We’re all set to get things started on Monday.

Friday, October 28th: Greetings residents of Calhoun Greenway and welcome to the progress blog for your painting project. We’ve been granted the privilege of painting at your property this year. We’ll be getting started on Monday, November 6th.

Over the course of the month, we’ll be paining your hallway walls and ceilings as well as the stairwell walls and ceilings. The crew will be onsite Monday through Saturday from 8am-5pm once the project gets underway!

You can follow the project progress right here on the blog, where it wil be updated with any pertinent information and/or changes with scheduling. We’ll provide status updates, pictures, and ultimately a chronology of the project. We’ll try to have some fun along the way too!

We’re looking forward to getting started in a week!
