Project IN PROGRESS
Greetings and welcome to the project blog for the interior enamel and wall painting project in Excelsior. We are thrilled to be refreshing this home!
Wednesday, March 24th: Greetings!
We are approaching the last leg of the project in Excelsior. The crew is wrapping up in the garage area and will also start to clean up — removing paper, plastic, tape and also cleaning.
They will begin to reinstall the cabinet doors and drawers and they need to spray the ceiling in the kitchen area as well.
Monday, March 22nd: Good morning!
The crew is prepping and painting the garage interior today as well as the main and upper levels for wall painting are getting finished up. The crew will also begin cleaning and then working on the kitchen ceiling.
Some of the paper and plastic is coming down as well and we are loving what we are seeing!
Friday, March 19th: Greetings!
The crew has made some serious progress! The are working to clean up completed areas in the basement and then working on prepping and painting walls on the main level.
Wednesday, March 17th: Good afternoon and Happy St. Patrick’s Day ☘️☘️☘️
The crew is continuing to prep and spray areas with the 2nd coat of enamel on the main level. They should complete these area today. They are also working on wall prep and painting on the lower level.
Monday, March 15th: Good morning!
The crew is working on the main level to prep doors/drawers and millwork for the 2nd coat of enamel. They will either spay this afternoon or tomorrow. They are also starting their wall prep and painting on the lower level. Once the main level 2nd enamel coat is complete, they’ll start to prep and paint the wall areas as well.
Friday, March 12th: Greetings and TGIF!
Lots of changes happening this week. We prepping and sanded/smoothed the millwork and doors/drawers to ready them for the enamel coats of paint. The crew sprayed the 1st enamel coat on the baseboards, doors/frames, cabinet frames, drawers.
We will now start to sand and fill in any more graining showing through before we spray the 2nd coat of enamel and we will move onto walls as well.
Wednesday, March 10th: Good afternoon!
We are continuing to fill in graining, nicks, dings, and any imperfections before we move forward with spraying the first coat of enamel tomorrow. Lots of dust from the sanding so we are cleaning and vacuuming before we begin to spray as well.
Excited to see that bright white on the millwork tomorrow!
Friday, March 5th: Good morning and happy Friday!
We are moving and grooving – the crew had sprayed the primer and is working to fill the nicks, dings, and visible graining. They are hopeful to start spraying the 1st enamel coat mid week next week as well. Big changes are happening!
Thursday, March 4th: Good morning!
The crew sprayed primer on all of the included millwork, doors, baseboards, cabinetry and they are working on filling the graining that is showing through as well as any imperfections or dings. They will use a wood filler or putty to fill in the graining, sanding it down smooth afterwards, and then vacuuming up any dust. Once complete, they’ll spray the 1st coat of enamel.
Tuesday, March 2nd: Good afternoon!
The crew continues to prep the select cabinets and will be spraying the 1st coat of enamel as we are finishing with sanding and wood filling.
Monday, March 1st: Good morning and happy March!
The crew was onsite over the weekend to finish prepping and covering and they also sprayed primer on the millwork – cabinets, baseboards, drawers, doors, and walls. Once the primer is all sprayed, they complete some filling in of any nicks or dings to cabinets or any imperfections to yield a smooth finish.
Thursday, February 25th: Good afternoon!
Prep continues! We’ve moved to the main level and are continuing to cover floors and carpet, tape off edges and prep, prep, and more prep.
Wednesday, February 24th: Greetings!
The crew is back at it and continuing with prep work and covering on the lower level. While furniture is being moved around and cleared upstairs, the crew is busy covering furniture in the lower level, taping off around cabinetry, covering carpet and floors, and readying walls for painting.
Tuesday, February 23rd: Good morning!
Welcome to the project blog for this major home refresh project. We are looking forward to sharing the project progress with you here on the blog. We’ll post updates frequently with photos from the crew as they make their way across the main and lower levels – brushes in hand beautifying the space.
We are going to be prepping and finishing the majority of the main and lower levels, including millwork – baseboards, doors, frames, kitchen cabinets, fireplace, pantry, laundry, dining and built ins. We’ll also be refreshing ceiling areas and the walls.
As we begin each project, we spend time prepping. With the large size of this project, we’ll spend days covering floors, carpets, furniture and areas we are not painting before we begin and anticipate to be prepping through the rest of the week.
After areas are prepped and covered, the crew will begin painting the millwork – this involves multiple steps including priming and 2 top coats. Between the primer and top coats, the crew will be taking time to fill in any nicks or dings.
Once the millwork is completed, we’ll begin to paint ceilings and walls. In it’s entirely we are going to be working on the this project for ~ 5 weeks.
Stay tuned here for more updates and to see the big changes happening. Thanks!
